The clients wanted a low maintenance entertaining space, with a barbecue, bar and dining area. I designed a geometric garden at a 45 degree angle, divided into four tiered ‘zones’. The terrace, accessed on ground level, consists of large polished limestone paving slabs and lush evergreen border planting. A bespoke water feature creates sound and movement, providing a focal point from the terrace and dining level. The brushed concrete surface on the dining level mirrors the floor of the client’s kitchen/living room; a bespoke bar and bbq with contemporary timber structures enclose the space. Limestone slabs are repeated on the third level, with custom seating around a corten steel fire pit. Finally, a step up takes you to an enclosed timber garden room, which mirrors the structural design of the bbq and bar.
